The Stage 1 is perfect for the G-Body owner who wants a simple and effective suspension upgrade with real handling improvement. This kit includes our trusted 1.250” front sway bar and 1” rear sway bar combined with performance lowering springs and UMI monotube shocks. The sway bars reduce body roll and provide a nice balance when handling at the limit. Supplied lowering springs feature medium stiffness to control body movement and reduce floating while still providing a comfortable ride. The UMI monotube shocks feature a large diameter piston and nitrogen charge to dampen bumps and provide a crisp feel without being harsh. The shock is configured with heavy-duty mounts to ensure durability and fits in the stock location. Choose UMI’s Stage 1 as a 1st step to transforming your G-Body into a capable daily driver or corner carver. Every component in this kit, as with all UMI products, is Made In USA.

Stage 2 handling kit includes everything to upgrade and rebuild the suspension on your classic 1978-1988 GM G-Body. The Stage 2 kit includes upper and lower front A-Arms with 1/2" added spindle height via tall ball joints, heavy duty UMI sway bars with new end links and greaseable bushings, UMI monotube gas shocks for all four corners, premium lowering springs, rear tubular upper and lower control arms, replacement rear end housing bushings and heavy duty tubular frame braces. We also include all new Grade 10.9 hardware with locking nuts to complete the installation. This kit will make any classic cruiser feel like a modern day muscle car! UMI’s Stage 2 may be our entry level complete kit but it isn’t entry level performance or entry level quality. Stage 3 kit is designed to achieve great street manners combined with Pro-Touring handling capability. In this newest revision we’ve refined our parts list to provide the most common options in one convenient package. Simply click and enjoy the performance. Up front you’ll find Delrin lower a-arm bushings for precise steering along with ½” taller upper ball joints to plant that tires contact patch. Out back we include our popular Roto-Joints and an adjustable length upper control arm so the axle can articulate nicely after you’ve perfected the driveline angle. Sway bars are UMI’s tried and true 1-1/4” front and 1” rear for a great front to rear handling balance. UMI’s new monotube gas shocks help to control the new premium lowering springs. The Stage 3 kit is available in beautiful red or black powder coat and is 100% designed, tested, manufactured and raced out of our shop in Philipsburg, PA – USA.

UMI’s Stage 3.5 kit is designed to transform your GM G-Body from a grandma cruiser to a capable corner carver with the twist of the wrist. UMI’s lowering springs form the handling foundation and are controlled by UMI’s premium rebound adjustable shocks. Our ultra-premium springs feature carefully tuned rates and high quality construction to eliminate the floating feeling and will tie your G-body directly to the road. The UMI monotube shocks rebound adjustment allows you to fine tune your ride whether you’re doing back road heroics or shaving that last tenth of a second between the cones. UMI a-arms feature tubular construction, Delrin bushings for precise steering and caster corrected uppers. The ½” taller upper ball joints work with the lowering springs to tune up the poor factory camber curve. Out back the UMI trailing arms feature Roto-joints for smooth articulation combined with poly bushings for a smooth ride. Adjustable uppers allow for pinion angle tuning while the axle mounted pro-tour bar performs on the street, during cornering and even the occasional dragstrip blast. The entire package is designed and manufactured by UMI in Philipsburg, PA – USA of US materials and we’re proud to drive on and race what we build.

 

Note: Chassis mounted rear sway bar included fits factory rear end axle tubes measuring 2.750”. If your vehicle is using an aftermarket rear end with larger axle tubes please contact us for 3.000” or 3.250” u-bolts.

1978-1988 GM G-Body Handling Kit- Stage 4

Stage 4 kit transforms your G-body into a handling machine with the adjustability to perform well at the strip or haul your family comfortably - to the autocross. If drag racing is more your style, a few minor changes at initial purchase (or down the road) will have you launching with the best of them, then canyon carving on the way home! Up front we start with UMI's proven upper and lower tubular a-arms loaded with ½” taller upper and lower ball joints giving you a total of 1" increased spindle height. The adjustable upper a-arms increase caster, without additional shims, for a precise steering feel. The lower a-arms are loaded with UMI-built Delrin bushings for smooth non-binding motion and precise steering. Viking's new front hybrid coilover with double adjustable shock allows ride height, compression and rebound adjustment. The ride height adjustment is accomplished with the included spanner wrenches and thrust washers. The compression and rebound adjusters are clicked by hand (no tools!) and feature a total of 361 possible valving combinations. The front is completed by UMI’s 1.250” chromoly handling sway bar. Out back we stiffen the chassis with adjustable tubular frame braces which stabilize the Poly/Roto combo lower trailing arms and fully adjustable Roto-Joint upper control arms. 1” or 2” lowering rear springs are controlled by Viking’s double adjustable rear shocks, once again featuring 361 possible combinations. Rounding out the rear is our Pro-Tour style rear sway bar. This 3-way adjustable bar features 1” tubular construction, race style end links and UMI’s proven CNC machined clamping system. One bar allows street, road race, auto-x and drag settings. As always, this kit features UMI’s quality red or black powder coat and premium hardware. All UMI components are manufactured with pride in Philipsburg, PA – USA.
