New Stainless Steel reproduction 1983-1988 Monte Carlo SS Top plate - air tunnel facia support. You own a SS & you already are thinking why didn't I think of that? It looks great it will never rust & it's not a cheap metal like the factory. We are or were in the same boat. We blasted & powder coated it.After removing the rubber coating we found what else more rust & pitting. Then we had the bright idea Powder coat it & it will last forever. You do that but you can still see the pitting from the cheap metal. Ok I'll buy a new 1 not too bad they can be bought for $139.95 to $179.95(dealer cost). You know the result looks great. You have a new plate but how long will it last? I'm sure like most in bad climate they may have made it 5 years down south maybe 10-15 years.Ok this is the way to do it & be donr. For the restorers we can powder coat this black for $25.00.It will be the exact 65* gloss. The top plate will last forever. The extra added strength will also help support the rubber nose.No more flimsy metal bending up & out of proportion.Ok now we have the show & Race Monte Carlo's. You have polished aluminum, chrome, anodized parts everything you can think of. This is the welcome mat to your engine compartment. When you walk up to your car this is the first thing that you see. We attended Monte MadneSS this year just to see alot of Beautiful Monte's.Almost everyone had the same problem. I brought 1 of these when they were in the development stage & everyone was saying the same thing, "What a great idea & a beautiful piece." Well Monte MadneSS was 6 months ago & we finally have them ready for sale in time for a nice Christmas gift for yourself!
Ok now what are the differences from the factory to the stainless? The stainless due to manufacturing time & cost were made out of 2 pieces that are spot welded. The stainless is made out of 304. The finish is a very fine brush that is finger print & scratch resistant. There were cheaper stainless materials we could use but this is one of the best for it's application. The 4 divots on the inside where the rubber cover pretty much covers were not copied. They were installed in the factory application to add strength. Double wall thickness of the stainless results in a smoother finish & the divots were not needed.
How will this fit compared to my original? As you can see from all the pics that there was alot of painstaking time & effort to ensure the measurements are correct in location & hole size. For those of you that would like to personalize your car with custom engraving we can offer that also. We use http://www.buickgn.com/ We have dealt with Mark for years & is great to deal with. Please e-mail him direct for quotes.
Current price is our Christmas special, priced $179.95 after January first.
